Neveen Shalaby
Director and screenwriterNeveen Shalaby is an Egyptian filmmaker, screenwriter, and university lecturer specializing in historical studies and anthropology. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Visual Anthropology.
She has taught directing and documentary filmmaking at several Egyptian universities and has delivered numerous film training programs. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with leading Arab and international media and human rights organizations, including Al Jazeera, Al Arabiya, Amnesty International, and UN Women.
Shalaby has written and directed dozens of films and has received more than thirty awards. Her most prominent work is the feature film A Beautiful Day, which addresses women's issues, most notably marital rape. The film was screened at several international festivals, received awards and special mentions, and was released on Netflix, where it remained among the platform's most-watched titles for an extended period.
